Smart Start AmeriCorps
Hosted by the Southeast Arkansas Education Service Cooperative
About the Program
Smart Start AmeriCorps members tutor K–5 students at increased risk for academic failure in math and literacy, as well as support at-risk preschool students in South Arkansas to ensure they are socially, emotionally, and academically prepared for kindergarten.
Many members include high school seniors interested in careers working with children, and their service hours often align with work-based learning credits while they receive training in evidence-based literacy and math intervention techniques.
