Volunteer Opportunities & Recruitment

Volunteering in Arkansas

There are many ways to serve your community in Arkansas. Studies show that engaging in a volunteer activity connects you with others while altering brain chemistry releasing dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin. You know, those feel-good hormones responsible for boosting moods!

The Engage Arkansas volunteer portal is a great way to find statewide opportunities and manage your personal volunteer hours through the self-report tools available. Learn more about how to volunteer and how to share volunteer opportunities below.

Engage Arkansas uses Give Pulse to list, find, organize, and measure the impact of community engagement efforts in Arkansas. Through Give Pulse, you will be able to find volunteer opportunities statewide.

President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) Recognition

In 2024, Engage Arkansas became a certifying organization for Arkansans interested in receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action. Led by AmeriCorps and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers. Though Engage Arkansas certifies the award, we do not certify direct service hours. These must be approved by the organization where your service took place.

On May 27, 2025, Points of Light announced that, effective immediately, the President’s Volunteer Service Award program is on a temporary pause, as decided by AmeriCorps. We do not have a date for when the program will resume. All orders that were placed before the program pause went into effect will be processed and shipped as normal.

If you’re seeking other ways to recognize volunteers and AmeriCorps members, Points of Light offers the Daily Point of Light Award, which honors a volunteer each weekday throughout the year and was initiated in the White House in 1990.
